Letter to Shareholders Pepsico
PepsiCo Inc. is an American multinational company which is the second largest food and beverage business in the world. The biggest competitor at this time is the Coca-Cola Company.
The companyâs current product lines include several hundred brands and due to some very well known products like Pepsi-Cola, 7Up, Layâs potato chips and others, PepsiCo has a great market share.
The reason why I chose the letter to shareholders of this company is because my position in the dispute âCoca-Cola versus Pepsiâ was and is that Pepsi is much better than Coca-Cola.
There are three main points in the letter which are brought up, one of them describes the good financial results of 2010.
The second issue deals with the sustainability including the human as well as the environmental sustainability and the actions PepsiCo took to improve it. PepsiCo is for example investing in a healthier planet by reducing water usage, increasing recycling levels and minimizing the carbon footprint.
The last part treats the future with the new challenges and the potential improvements. One of the aims is to build and extend the macro snack portfolio.
I think this letter to the shareholders can be seen as a good marketing tool, because the accent is put on the strong and consistent performance of the company, but you donât have the feeling what you are reading is an exaggeration, so itâs very convincing. After reading the letter as an investor you are proud to be part of this business and the company becomes more and more trustworthy, because even though there is a devastative financial crisis your company is still making progresses.
The visual appearance is also very convincing
because of the deliberate proportion between
pictures and words and it motivates you to
