Gas prices, good or bad?
Throughout our last brutal summer gas prices were as high as nearly $4 a gallon. After a while, the American people began to adapt to the rise, and take it with stride. Many smart individuals were beginning to make new alterations; therefore they would not have to sacrifice their pay check just to get to work. Many people blame this increase in price on the war in the Middle East but it is mostly because of the damage that hurricane Katrina had given us.

Today and everyday people around the US have seen the gas prices drop significantly from last summer. The most that we had spent on a gallon of gas was four dollars, but it has since then decreased by a half. Gas prices are as low as two dollars a gallon. The worst part about this new gas price trend, is that Americans are now so excited about the decrease in cost that they do not realize that their gain, might as well be their loss. The American people seem to be ignorant and do not notice that the gas prices have been on the rise from year to year. Just two short years ago in 2004 the average retail gas price was 1.85 $ per gallon. Then in 2005 it rose to 2.27$ per gallon. Yet Americans ignore this obvious fact and continue to live their lives as if everything were normal.

One of the most popular ways to save gas during the past summer was to carpool. Carpooling was a way to not only help ourselves but we were also help the environment by reducing the amount of automobile pollution that entered the atmosphere. Carpooling allowed for an efficient way to save money on gas and engage in a more convenient way of traveling. Similar to carpooling was the idea of taking public transportation that provided the same advantages as carpooling. Furthermore, many people were even smarter and listened to television advertisements and the media and went to their nearest car dealership and bought the hottest new car, the Hybrid. These new lines of cars became the most practical and affordable options for consumers to make. These cars are powered by electric motors which are then powered by batteries that will automatically recharge while you are driving. Not only were people driving better cars for our environment, but others were trying to come up with new solutions, other than gas. One man, Stan Myers, has even invented a car that can run on pure water. It was said that it would not even matter what kind
