Trainwreck (2015) This past weekend, I saw the movie Trainwreck. Amy Schumer for the first time ever makes the bridge from comedian to screen writer and actor. As a comedy filled romantic comedy, this movie is a must see! This movie is mainly about Amy living out her father’s advice that monogamy is dead through her promiscuous life style. She seems content and almost enthusiastic at times with her achievement in rejecting monogamy. Despite her best efforts, she learns that monogamy is the best way to be happy in her life. Amy’s rejection of monogamy comes from her father using it as an excuse to justify why he shouldn’t be blamed for cheating on his wife and wrecking his marriage. In the beginning of the movie, Amy dreams about this conversation almost as if it was an inspirational event in her life as a child. He explains it saying, “What if I told you that was the only doll you were allowed to play with the rest of your life? How would you feel?”. “Sad,” the daughters reply. As an adult she jumps from guy to guy feeling accomplished in the way she could be intimate with someone without developing feelings for them. She thinks that she has mastered the art of love or should I say lack thereof love. Amy is a successful magazine journalist and despite her hate for sports, Amy is assigned to write an article on a top sports doctor Aaron Conners played by Bill Hader. Aaron plays a close friend and medical adviser to basketball star LeBron James. Despite her best efforts trying to reject Aaron’s chivalrous feelings for her, Amy begins to fall for him. Amy finds herself struggling to maintain her promiscuous life style while falling in love with sweet Aaron. By the time Amy finally realizes that Aaron is the one and only person she has ever loved, could it be that it was too late because Aaron has had enough of her games? Finally, Amy realizes what she wants and puts together the ultimate expression of her love by overcoming her fear with a grand gesture for Aaron.
