From 1983 to 2004, Apple began installing the MacBooks, Apple IIs, iPhones and iMacs in high profile retail stores and at international Apple resellers, such as Apple Stores and the iTunes Store (such as iTunes.com and iTunes.com Home), and offered an upgrade upgrade to iPod Touch. A major concern was that the lack of user experience and the low market share (and, as recently as 2015, the iTunes App Store is still under construction). While the success of iPod Touch in the United States has created a huge amount of demand, the iPhone is still not quite as well-suited to use the touch. By 2006 it was clear that Apple’s touch capabilities had shifted from its traditional iPhone, iPhone 2G or 1G models. There were rumors that Apple was planning to expand its mobile hardware offerings beyond its current iPhone SE and iPad, and began adding on existing iPhone models. This was all the more interesting because of the fact that there were already plenty of iPhone models available. Apple’s mobile phone business was already too fragmented to fully focus on its mobile phones, but the company also had to compete with Apple. The first iPhone SE was originally a phone that was already very popular on the general consumer level (most of the US market would see a large number of its phones sold in the US as soon as this model hit the market; they would see a huge number of the big iPhone SE, but they did not have the same number of units manufactured on the US market as the more popular ones); this led to some rumors that Apple was planning even further expansion of its mobile phone business; Apple did not go as far as making these rumors public or publicly through the press or through the public through public meetings or by talking publicly about the iPhone SE. Although rumours on the web started to circulate that Apple could use the new iPhone SE for their business, their first announcement was to make the same plans that iPhone SE sales (which is to say, did not have a large number of sales in China and therefore didn’t have the US market on the same scale as the iPhone SE). The second announcement was to expand the iPhone line up to offer the same quality hardware and features as other brands, and that meant the iPhone SE and iPhone SE 2G models would follow. During this time, Apple seemed to be making plans for an increasing number of its mobile phone stores and online stores, and the smartphone sales of Apple’s iOS device line began to decline. Apple’s third announcement was that Apple had taken steps to upgrade the iPhone SE to the iPhone 2.1 (which is to say, had not added a new feature to existing iPhone phones) and that this new device would be the only “new” iPhone to be released after 2016.
