The piece of art comes to life because it isnt just a blue print, its three dimensional giving the piece more depth. You can see the mass in the piece by showing how the fat woman is, and then the add on of her eating a fattening product such as ice cream. Because of the texture that was chosen it really makes the woman look real. It gives off the look of a Manichean. This piece of art was designed to make a statement. Its giving the statement that the woman is obese but she is still eating things that makes her even more fat, which exploits how the average American is perceived.I believe this piece of art could have been a masterpiece when it was created in the 70s because of the lack of tool and technology that they had then, but now because tools have evolved I dont believe it would be considered a masterpiece in present day. I believe that camera art is now whats considered as a masterpiece in art today. This piece does create humor and shows much definition and gives off a message. The message it gives off is people know that they are obese but they still will continue to eat fattening things. From the looks of this piece there is a sense of depression on the woman’s face which may provide reason as to why she is eating the ice cream. This piece of art proves that there are different aspects of art. Art does not always have to be sad or confusing. It can be humorous and give off an important message at the same time. With the sculpture being in the superrealism period it gives us the realistic look.
