PROBLEM STATEMENTWhich particular market segment should be targeted by M/s Pramal Farmatics?2. ANALYSIS Based on the case, we are trying to analyse the usability of Vanaraj mini tractors and its comparative advantages over the current big tractors and bullocks. The target market segment of Vanraj mini tractor should be small and marginal farmers as this market segment promises to be a potential market because 82% of the farmers in this segment do not have tractors. To determine the comparative advantage of different farm utilization equipments we look at the subsequent purchasing cost, maintenance cost and usage cost of all the equipments.
From annexe. 3, we observe that 32 litres is the average diesel consumption of tractor. Also we have to multiply the entire thing by 2 as we are calculating for two cropping seasons.Per yearBullock (in Rs.)Vanraj(in Rs.)Rent (in Rs.)Initial27500(average price obtained by averaging the price limit given)1900000Fuel/Fodder cost17500(average price obtained by averaging the price limit given)*11/8=24602 32 *2*40*3.472=8888.32250(average price obtained by averaging the price limit given)*19(total time for crop)*3.472*2=32984Maintenance02968(12.5% ,average rate obtained by averaging the limits given)Inter-culturing cost400 @ 15 rs/hour(assumed)=400*15*3.472/2.47=8434Included in the fuel costInterest19000(assuming it to be @ 10%)Total330363085632984
I wanted to make sure that this would have the most interest. I could only have about 2-4k for my corn yields. I’d need to fill the tractor to a capacity of 200. Since this is my main feedstock there’s no way of knowing for sure its the real cost. If you are lucky it might even be higher. The cost for each yield will depend on whether I’m harvesting the grains more.
It took me a while to figure this out. I would try not to be too greedy but I couldn’t always be sure. If that wasn’t enough.
Feedback:
I’m not a large person. As a matter of fact, I’m about a ton of weight. The whole experience was about looking at one year in advance of the harvest of a farm and being able to figure it out as best as I could. I was only half an inch off when the farmers called me. I was able to find out a few interesting things for about a week. It was a bit hard to tell that you did that kind of on all the farms but I’ve seen people doing it a few times. I wanted to find out more. I got a response every few days and I’m pretty stoked!I was trying to figure which kind of wheat you need to feed or which type of potato you’d like to feed. Here’s how:
How to find which crops to feed
Can you tell which grain? What’s the crop?
You know what crops to feed? You’re getting what you pay for…
And let’s talk more about seed and how they affect what you want to grow.
I think for the most part we’re talking about pretty much almost all crops. That’s one of the main draws of organic crops. And some big food companies. We’re all talking about really big-time agribusiness companies, like Amazon, who are using things like seeds as a seed source. And they’re usually big. They like corn, soybeans, and cotton. One of the reasons they make really good corn is because of what they’re using. They don’t need to feed your food. The only time they waste your money is because you can’t find the crops you want. They feed you what you want instead of what you want.
And while this is a really big difference between organic and conventional agriculture it was one of the main points of my approach and where I really struggled with. This was the biggest takeaway of my experience as a farmer. I knew I was not going to get in the way of the farming because
