The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.What is Yin Yang?It’s a Chinese philosophy, which talks about the duality of the opposites. And it proposes that opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent. Like darkness and light, good and evil, life and death, matter and anti-matter, heaven and hell.Is it a philosophy you believe in?I think it has its share of positives that you can tap into to suit your tastes.So you believe in it?Believe is a complex word. We have tales of mythologies and we have stories about heaven and hell. It all depends on the individual – either you look at them and believe them based on their superficial face value or you look at them based on their symbolism and add your own ideas and imagination to suit your tastes. It all depends on the individual.Tell me more about Yin yang.Yin means shade or darkness and Yang means light or brightness, so Yin Yang is a concept which says that everything has two sides and if you can see one of the sides, then it definitely has another side. And they are always together – complementing each other. And one thing I personally like about it is that it shows that good and bad are just perceptions and not real.What do you mean good and bad are just perceptions and not real? Good and bad do exist!They exist only in our consciousness and in our opinions. Not in the physical world.You think being bad is okay?No, I mean to say that good and bad are primarily just perceptions. Things defined as bad in one area might be good in some other area, and it also depends on the perspective. When someone kills an innocent man the person is labelled as bad, yet when someone kills a criminal the person is labelled as good – perspective matters.But the criminal was a bad person?!Again perspective matters. Who was the criminal bad to? Maybe the criminal was an amazing parent and it was society which made the person become a criminal in the first place. From the criminal’s perspective, it’s society which is bad. Everyone are just shades of grey – they have both the light and the darkness – Yin and Yang!Aaaaah!!Look, I understand that you don’t agree with how I tend to look at the world. But in my point of view, Yin Yang is a beautiful concept. Like our universe is filled with matter and anti-matter; and the sum total of the both is zero. Yet the universe is a wonderful place, filled with amazing bodies and beings.The sum total of the universe is zero?Probably, I have my own theory about the universe. It makes the most sense to me and it fits my stand of how the world, the universe and life itself behaves.What is your theory?Well, they say that the universe came out of nothing. But the problem remains that how could something have come out of nothing, so I made my own theory for it – let’s take a positive and a negative number of equal value. When you add them up, the sum total is zero. In the same way our universe adds up to a sum total of zero. Everything cancels out – all the good and evil, all the darkness and light, all the love and hate – everything cancels out.But it’s just your theory, with no valid proof!
