Morholt, brother of Queen Isolde,
Marched into Marks court
To come collect Irelands vast taxes
Morholt sadly used extort
Tristan, champion of Cornwall,
Challenged Morholt to fight.
To stop oppression of Cornwall
On Decembers twelfth night
Atop one of Cornwalls island,
Tristan and Morholt fought;
With intense rigor and hatred,
And Morholt was slowly outfought.
Finally Tristan slew Morholt,
But suffered a deep cut
Of deadly poison to the chest.
He closed both his eyes shut.
His only chance of survival
Laid with Morholts young niece.
Only Irelands princess Isolde
Could prevent his decease
Brave Tristans ship sailed ever onwards;
Destination in sight
Tristan came for Isoldes needed help
Right for the mornings first light.
Isolde cured Tristan with much love
Upon which recovered
Both fell in love with each other
They rapidly discovered
Tristan soon came back to Cornwall,
And Mark heard of Isolde.
To sad Tristans immense regret
Marks love for her was bold.
Marks love for Isolde grew deeper
And so Tristan was sent
To go fetch Isolde in Ireland
To make King Mark content
Once again brave Tristan set sail
On a quest of finesse
He fetched Isoldes hand
For Mark with stark success
Onwards he sailed back to Cornwall
With the wind on his back
And with Isolde
