Mythology Case
Two personality types that can be viewed as difficult and have been difficult for me are the below:
“You can motivate both extroverts and introverts by providing all group members with meeting agendas well in advance. Introverts need the time to prepare materials and develop their thoughts before a meeting” Engleberg and Wynn (2010)
Introverted personality types can waste time, make decisions too quickly, and create more work.
Set clear and valued goals. Provide thinking time before and during discussions. Provide opportunities to speak.
Sensors need to gather and use facts but often get bogged down in vague and unrealistic discussions. Key methods to be able to effectively deal with them are listed below
Set realistic goals. Keep meetings short and relevant. Request real, practical information
“Sensors are motivated by the opportunity to share information and observations. Intuitives want group members to give serious consideration to their creative, big picture ideas. During a discussion, give sensors uninterrupted time to present their information and conclusions. Then let the intuitives “loose” to use that information as a springboard for new ideas and innovative solutions.” Engleberg and Wynn (2010)
It is not that either one of these personality types are bad ones to work with, however in dealing with big projects, and having streamlines deadlines its important to apply and navigate these effective tools and methods, that way in a group setting members do not get off track with their goals. Sometimes the deadlines are so tight that there is not much room for big picture ideas, however for future projects and deadlines that could be something that “sensors” could take away and work on.
