One Flew Over the Cuckcoos Nest
There are certain qualities that makes a person who they are. No two people are exactly alike. Happiness, anger, sadness, madness, etc. are all emotions that humans have in life. Nikos Kazantzakis stated “a person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free”. In the movie One Flew Over the Cuckcoos Nest, many of the characters exemplify this quote, but one character in perticular, which is Billy.

After watching the movie, the audience got to know Billy as being a friendly guy but had little or no self confidence and was a bit of a “mammas boy”. During the film, Mrs. Ratched, the nurse at the ward is close with Billys mother. McMurphy, the main character in the film, brings one of his girl-friends Candy, to the ward. There, he introduces her to Billy and immediately Billy is attracted to her. McMurphy knows that Billy isnt popular with the ladies and figures hes never been layed. McMurphy gets an idea to set Candy up with Billy. As a favor to Billy, McMurphy convinces Rose to have intercourse with Billy. After the incident, Nurse Ratchet finds out about Billys sexual act with Candy and calls him out on it. She threatens to tell Billys mother and that scared Billy.
One of the climaxs in the movie was when Billy commits suicide. After the suicide, the audience got the impression that Billy killed himself because of what he did with Candy. Like the quote says, “a person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope”. Billy was a very obediant adult and did what he was
