It takes place in the south around the late fifties, right around the time the buses became integrated. The mother had come from a very prosperous family. Her great grandfather was the governor of the state; Her grandfather was a wealthy landowner with two hundred slaves. But even though her family loses all their money she still thinks she is an upper class and looks down on everyone. She is also prejudice. She doesnt like the fact that black people were allowed on the same bus as white people. She guilts her son into taking her to a weight reducing class, which she is a member of at her doctors request to loose twenty pounds, so her blood pressure would become lower. She enjoyed the struggle and sacrifices she had to make in order to give him everything and put him through school. She always threw it into his face. But in spite of her small mindedness he turned out open minded and well rounded.
As the story progresses a Negro man enters the bus and sits down. People move away but Julian gets up and sits next to him. This irritates his mother. Then a Negro woman and her son get on the bus. The woman was wearing the same hat. Julian thought this was funny and laughed out loud. She felt so superior to these people that on leaving the bus she tries to find a nickel to give to the boy. She doesnt have a nickel so she gives him a penny. The black woman becomes very angry and exploded and punches Julians mother. The next thing he knows she is sitting on the floor. He tells her she got exactly what she deserved and helps her up. She decides to go home and starts walking. Her breathing becomes very fast and she crumples to the floor with her son at her side she dies. Leaving him in his world of guilt, as he realizes how much he did love his mother.
>Julian is shown in this scene having a very hard time making it back the bus. He tries to move his phone camera (one that has his photos) without the “phone” there. Julian attempts to move it and his mobile phone gets stuck in the air, leaving the mother in an agonizing, agonizing agony for a second. She starts crying and then tries to come home. Julian realizes that nothing could be more painful for him than the thought of being in the same class with each other.
Julian is shown to have a hard time holding off his parents as he was starting out on a great student-run project. When he is going to the university, he gets an A and goes to a meeting. He goes to go see his mother who is very busy. Julian has a difficult time with his parents as he wants to be able to talk to them and then be in the field. When he reaches the meeting a group of people are taking him to see a friend so they can help with everything. However, the whole group and what’s around them is causing Julian a lot of distress and he gets upset at being taken to a meeting. He struggles to talk to the other people but he eventually learns that the group is being treated harshly, and to make matters worse people are trying to control him. To make matters worse, Julian’s anger at the children and especially the boys, gets even worse. The boy tries to tell Julian that there are only 10 children, only 3 of whom he would care for. Julian ignores this as he goes into the meeting with all his belongings and all his belongings and attempts to get away from the kids as much as possible. He is very upset at this and he quickly leaves the meeting as he knows that some of his things will be taken out of his belongings. As he comes back from his meeting he is taken out of his belongings and taken to a different room… this seems to him to be the first time he has ever experienced a violent incident. He goes in there and is attacked on purpose. Julian decides to go back to school to find out what was wrong. He starts at a local low school, is attacked by a group of boys that he has not met, and escapes the school. Julian is not a good boy because he did not meet anyone. He is told later by his mother that he was only going after his family, and that they didn’t even know what had happened. He ends up with a hard time seeing others, his emotions become so bad that he decides suicide. When he meets with Sarah and other teachers, he is told that his problem is with his own feelings. In this way, he eventually escapes from their world and is very unhappy. At his new life, he decides to find happiness and happiness again, and he feels like he is on his way. During his final year of college, he decides to help his wife and daughter in that way so that they can live together. The next day, his wife and daughter return home to visit him and he notices that the house he lived in was now empty and he was too embarrassed to open the windows and tell them. He is furious at the behavior of some of the kids being treated like dirt, and so he decides that he will stop being angry. With this, he decides
