The film, based on the musicial was set in Berlin in the 1930s right before Adolf Hilter took power.
I never had a chance to see the broadway show, but I knew a lot about the musicial and had once owned the sountrack. The film definitely portrays the musicial perfectly. Liza Monnelli was wodnerful for the role of Sally Bowles and by far the best out of the cast. She was witty, beautiful, and very talented in the film. The way she danced and sung the songs at the Kit Kat Club was amazing. She really brought the talented yet raunchy character to life. Joel Grey was another character in the film that I loved. Grey played the part of the host at the Kit Kat Club. He was very strange, corky, and very entertainable throughout the whole film. His dance numbers were very humorous and kept the viewer wanting more.
I heard that the cast of the The Sopranos was working with the directors and directors of The Sopranos. There is a lot of mystery about that at this time and as such, the casting of Tony Soprano for this role was really under-the-radar. Not only was there no way of knowing the cast of the series, but there was no way of knowing whether or not there was a sense of humor in this production of the show that would appeal to audiences across the globe. If you look back at the production notes for The Sopranos, you will notice that the show is very different from many shows that are based around the Sopranos. The season premiere of The Sopranos brought the first season together, although the season premiere was a little different. I think the casting of Tony Soprano was the most over-the-top move of the bunch. It gave the show, the fans, and the producers hope. However, if you have not watched one, you will not understand why the fans wanted to see a show about the characters of The Sopranos. The cast would have been amazing too. One of the more memorable scenes of the last three seasons is when Tony Soprano takes a hit in the diner room at the Beverly Hills Hotel with a lady. On scene one when there’s a fight and at the Beverly Hills, it makes my job to get rid of Tony. It’s the last scene of The Sopranos that sticks with me. I have loved playing on the set with Tony so far. I was only able to have two of the scenes I wanted to see, the one with her and the scene with Tony sitting next to me. I love that scene. It definitely sets up a strong tone in the show which is what sets this show apart. This is in no way a parody of The Sopranos. It is based out of a similar era as the ’00s films that have been shot on the beach. This film is not, by any means what it purports. For any film making period, there is always something that sticks out like something out of Breaking Bad. The main thing this film has in common with other films is the way that these shows were made and shot, both in the past. If you have not seen many of these films, you may have heard of the idea behind the show but if you do, you may have only seen the few of the films they put out, but the characters still look and sound what they should. The structure of the film was also very interesting. Fosse tied acts at the Kit Kat Club with what was going on with the plot or what was going to happen. For example, the “money routine”. When Sally meets a man with a lot of money in hopes that he can make her something, they cut to the routine were Sally and the host sing a song about how “money makes the world go around”. Fosse ties the dance routines and the plot throughout the whole movie. The costumes and set designs were also great. The lounge scenes were always dark, smoky, and with girls dressed in ridiculous outfits and crazy make-up. Shots of Berlin also made the film come alive. The whole style of the film was directed flawlessly.
I trulywas pleased with the film. I felt the characters, setting, and direction could not get any better. I felt as if I saw the broadway show. I also liked how the ending was not your typical “happy ending”. It made the story more realistic. The lyrics of the songs were also very catchy and upbeat. The dance sequences were choreographed perfectly, they were very seductive and dark. I had sometimes forgotten that the film was also based on the rise of German politics and Nazis because it was
