The British invasion was one of the most phenomenal times in music history. During the early 60s there were a number of situations that contributed to the rise of British musicians. The many groups that were popular during this time were The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and most importantly The Beatles. These then young, British groups began to combine different British and American pop styles. The Beatles, who became one of the most known and successful groups, were actually the ones who sparked the British invasion. The British invasion and due to them the American charts did receive a steady flow of British hits throughout the decade, although they were not strictly limited to groups as they included both male and female solo singers (Harry 1). This was because America had begun to lose its touch in rock and roll, which is when British rock and roll started to reinvent the music all around. Even after their disbandment in 1970, the Beatles were in fact the greatest group of all time and here is why: they had a number of hit singles and accomplishments, their unique fashion styles, and their show appearances.
The invasion was one that hit the entire world by surprise, especially with the Beatles producing so much music. The Beatles had a number of hit singles during this time which indeed put them at the top of the list of rock bands from the United Kingdom. In the year of 1963, their albums and singles flooded the British and American airways. It all started with their debut album, “Please Please Me,” which came out in March, followed by their megahit single, “I Want To hold Your Hand,” followed in the fall ( Fleming 38). The Beatles released their first single, “Love me Do” in 1962 and it was instantly successful. It is evident that the Beatles have held twelve top positions on the Billboard Top 100 that includes top five positions which has not been topped by any other artist yet. With all the hit songs they had out, this then became to puzzle some people. Most came to the conclusion that all of them were just very talented, and with their love for music became just that, great music. They knew what people wanted an how to deliver it to them and still was able to add advanced twists to every song they wrote. It has also been stated that drugs contributed to the rising of hits they had, which can be unbelievable because they had a lot of them. It went on record that the Beatles had a total of seventeen #1 hits in the UK and twenty-seven #1 hits in the United States, fifteen number one albums in the United Kingdom and nineteen number one albums in the United States. They spent 1,278 weeks on the British charts and 175 weeks at number one on the charts (Allen 2). In addition to that they also had the highest album sales in the United States with close to 107 million albums sold (Allen 2). The Beatles music had many outside influences, but they also had a tremendous amount of direct influence on other musicians at every point in their career together (The Book Chp. 7).
Furthermore, the Beatles had a unique fashion sense that took on a whole new meaning for the way men dressed back in the 60s. The fashion style that they are most known for was the Mod style, which was a vintage style. However, the Beatles were not the originators of this style
