It is one of the three major factors of production, the other two being land and input. In the broadest sense, labor can be defined simply as the ability to work or supply workers to a given industry or economic sector. A labor resource most often entails some degree of human effort in the production process, such as with a single individual or a team of workers.
Relationship of population and health
It is an approach to health that aims to improve the health of an entire human population. It means “the health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group”.
What is Employment and Underemployment?
Employment is a relationship between two parties, usually based on a contract, one being the employer and the other being the employee. While, underemployment refers to an employment situation that is insufficient in some important way for the worker, relative to a standard.
Unemployed person
A person who does nothing; nonworker. He/She is out of work, want a job, have actively sought work in the last four weeks and are available to start work in the next two weeks.
Underemployed person
A person employed only part-time when one needs and desires full-time employment. Also someone who is employed at a low-paying job that requires less skill or training than one possesses.
Unemployment
Labor that falls under the underemployment classification includes those workers that are highly skilled but working in low paying jobs, workers that are highly skilled but work in low skill jobs and part-time workers that would prefer to be full-time. This is different from unemployment in that the individual is working but isnt working at their full capability.
