Disney Case Study
Disney has been in almost every home since it was created in 1923. The company was formed by Walt and his brother Roy Disney. The creation of this magnificent idea started with the cartoon character Alice’s Wonderland. With the start of this character the founder’s created a legacy without knowing it. Walt Disney Company has produced hundreds of number one animated films, dozens of Broadway plays, radio, and television stations and the most magical place on earth for children and adults on three continents. Many thought the death of the founders would have tarnished the great legacy but the company has thrived for several decades and is continuing to grow. As any entrepreneur when someone speaks of your company it should trigger a thought and that’s exactly how people view “Disney” and its many creations.
The original mission statement of Walt Disney Company was to “nurture the imaginations of children around the world as well as to celebrate American values”. This was simply for a simple company with great meaning. Disney core consumers are children and they connect with children through characters and a big imagination. Disney has allowed their consumers to become a part of their magical land by teaching fundamentals and life stories. This company has a social responsibility to the world and they do this through a community outreach program. Through this program Disney gives monetary donations to thousands of nonprofit organizations such as Make-A-Wish foundation, Starlight Star bright children’s foundation, First Book, Boys and Girls Club of America and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
When someone mentions the word “Disney” a few things come to mind, Disney World, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, Disney Channel and even Disney movies. These places don’t begin to tip the iceberg because this company is so much more. Disney owns just about every media outlet and the company is also divided into four major business operations:
