Bsp Government
The pressures on governments to act as regulators arise mainly from: stakeholders, workers and the communities that constitute society. Workers want better working conditions, stakeholders want better performance and businesses expect better regulations towards products and power (Western Sydney University, 2015). The Government is supposed to enforce laws and rules in order to protect the society in which health would be classified as their main objective. In reality we use ethical reasoning and critical thinking everyday in our lives, and with the power of sociological imagination we give form to our ideas, thoughts and morals. Governments have the power to create and apply laws and policies where business must follow in order to keep their business running (Peery, 2005).Capitalism is referred to as a social and economic system originated upon the perception of human rights and some other characteristics which include: private property, a competitive market and wage labor. This allowed people a chance to be employed and also benefited the government as it assisted those needing medical attention in the case (Velazquez, 2012). In the case (Velazquez 2012) it also portrays that the action of the government is not obligating hospitals and health workers to use the most safest and high quality syringe in the market where it would prevent any sicknesses or diseases from occurring. Also Dickinson tried to market a âsaferâ and âbetterâ syringe, but it did not meet the government expectation. One major key issue in the (Velazquez, 2012) case towards the governments enforced regulations was that Becton Dickinson allowed the to market decide. This is known as the market approach, which is believed that government infringement makes markets unequal and inefficient. In addition, in this case because there is no high demand for safety syringes, Becton Dickinson ignored any policies and didnât manufacture or provide any high quality safety supplies. Also, because his company and two others had such control over the market through GPOâs (Group Purchasing Organizations), it delayed the entry of other companies, which had better and higher quality products and actually meet the consumerâs demands for safety.
