Burning BushEssay Preview: Burning BushReport this essayToday there exists a threat to this great country of ours. America is in dire straights at the hands of a criminal. Our publicly-appointed figurehead has been lying to all of us and has tried to conceal his history from the prying eyes of the American citizens. How did this man slither into presidential candidacy, when his past is riddled with corruption, crime, and deceit?
According to Michael Kranish, Boston Globe, three independent sources close to the Bush family report that Bush was arrested in 1972 for cocaine possession. He was taken to Harris County Jail, but avoided jail or formal charges through an informal diversion plan involving inner city community service. In 1999, reporter Bill Minutaglio of the Dallas Morning News writes that the year of community service was arranged by the Governors father, ex-president Bush, after he caught Bush Jr. driving drunk.
That year certainly is out of character with the rest of Bush Jr.s life. Before and after 1972, he was a rich, hard drinking playboy. Suddenly, and only that one time in his life, he worked for a liberal charity in an inner city ghetto. As soon as the year was over, he resumed his previous pattern and has done no charity work since.
Let us not forget the insanity that the Bush administration is responsible for, the war in Iraq. Before considering each of the dozens of individual deceptions, lies and misleading statements that Bush and his aides used to push the US into war in Iraq, lets not lose track of the big picture. The Bush administration justified war, immediate war, because of alleged weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Those weapons do not exist. They have not existed for years. The Bush administration knew this, because a top Iraqi defector told us this over 4 years ago, but they kept that information secret. Clearly weapons of mass destruction were not the reason the Bush administration wanted to invade Iraq. Top officials have even admitted this,
In 2004, the Bush administration was involved in a new scandal. The United States admitted to supplying anti-missile weapon development products to Iraq, as part of an agreement with Iraq’s government to avoid involvement in a diplomatic or strategic conflict. The Bush administration did not allow a US embassy employee to make public the name and contact of the officer, but in another decision, it announced that it was willing to cooperate with an Iraqi government-controlled oil company to provide weapons and other training for weapons inspectors, thus violating the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. This admission came just hours after Secretary of State Kerry informed US President George W. Bush that Iraq would not be allowed to use nuclear weapons or “prohibitive military tools” including missiles or surface-to-air missiles, which have never been used in any of the US conflicts. While Secretary of State Kerry said, “we want Iraq to be able to use its nuclear weapons, a very important tool to deter terrorists”, the Bush administration refused to make the admission publicly, even though the Bush administration has admitted they have been a big factor in these weapons programs. So much for the Bush administration’s “freedom of information” and the “freedom of the press” to reveal the truth about Iraq.
The next big bombshell occurred over the weekend. In March, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that the US had agreed to acquire the S-300 Long-range anti-missile system to help protect US troops in Afghanistan against US-backed insurgent forces there. The S-300 is a long range interceptor designed to help the US defend its most vital US military installations. This system has not been used in Iraq; it uses the high precision guided munitions and can be deployed on multiple aircraft with minimal tactical impact. It has not been used against US forces from Afghanistan. This is not the first time that the Bush administration has openly admitted that they have been involved in military development programs while maintaining a U.S.-centric policy. In December, shortly after Mr Hagel’s public announcement, he disclosed that he had had discussions with his Israeli counterpart in Iran, Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding possible collaboration between the Israeli Defence Force and the US in Afghanistan. The US has been providing arms and military support to Afghanistan for years, including many of these development programs.
On 6 March, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that the US had agreed not to provide arms and military support to Iraq because of the country’s repeated “insurgency”, that of which the Bush administration has been committing itself to perpetrate for the past eight years. The Pentagon has been engaged in military development programs since the US invaded Iraq and in violation of the Fifth Amendment right of the US Constitution. It violated that right by supplying weapons to government contractors, such as the US Army Contractor and the Defence Contractors, despite its clear constitutional obligations to “disarm” the enemy without using any military force. Secretary Hagel admitted that this means that
