We will spend two days discussing the Butler Lumber case. Assignment questions for Day 2 will be released at the end of Day 1.
Day 1
How well is Butler Lumber doing?
What has been the companys financial strategy? Why does Mr. Butler have to borrow so much money to support this profitable business? Has he been managing his companys cash flows wisely?
In preparing your analysis of Butler Lumber, you may choose to use Excel. We will devote two classes to the Butler Lumber case. On the second day, we will be forecasting Butlers funding requirements for 1991 and beyond by developing pro forma income statements and balance sheets.
