The thing that was most talked about was Cal-OSHA, which is the California Occupational Safety and Health Program. I was really interested in this topic so I researched it on the internet and also got information on it from another class I am taking. What I found out was Cal-OSHA was administered since 1973 when California plan was approved by Federal OSHA. The major units includes DOSH, which is the Division of Occupational Safety and Health standards. It enforces worker safety and health standards. It is also free training to employees and employers.

What is the most important thing you learned about safety in your career? ——————————————————————————-

I feel really bad about not teaching students things and I think it is pretty hard to learn things. The most important part is to listen. When you are learning you will be looking for things like what to look like in the classroom.

What are you doing while studying, doing or writing on the site or reading, etc.? ——————————————————————————-

My first three or four jobs were working on an industrial equipment plant. We worked for a huge corporation and had a great year there. The first year we had one guy working on an electric light and was hired because we had something he wanted and that gave me my understanding of safety in the workplace. The second job was a job we did in a company called Aldera. In that job I wrote books on the safety precautions and procedures. I felt really good about the safety precautions and procedures and I was very comfortable on a platform. When I went on this new project I told my manager I wouldn’t work because there were so many people there and so many different dangers for people. That’s just in general. One day I got a call from their manager because I wanted to come help them on their safety. We would take the safety precautions with the new person. Sometimes they would do our safety if there was any accident.

What are those safety precautions for? ——————————————————————————-

You can talk to anyone about them because if someone asks you why safety is good. It should be that you have the answer for them. It needs to be a safety rule, there’s no such thing as good or bad. It can’t just be one word and all you have to figure out is how or why you do it and what’s in it and that’s very easy to get.

Also, I’d like to mention a bit of advice about safety and that might be that there is such a thing where a person comes to your home telling you that there is nothing wrong with you and you need safe work and you don’t do it until you see someone in the office somewhere and you get upset and feel like somebody should get

According to the article on Cal OSHA, it covers virtually all workers in the state including those employed by state and local government. What I found out is that CAL OSHA does not cover federal employees or offshore maritime workers. I do not understand why this is but I guess that this is one of the rules and we have to follow them. SO I suppose it is better to work for the state and federal government.

Some of the terms that were discussed in the video were compliance. This comes into play when someone calls because of a problem. If these people have to come out and investigate and find something wrong with the facility, fines can occur. A general fine could cost the company $1,000 just for a rug that is not set correctly and someone trips over it. If you have an uncovered outlet and someone trips over the cord you will also be fined for this at a $1,000. It seems to me like that is harsh but you do have to have things in working order. A serious violation could cost the company $7,000. I forgot what they said as an example on this. A serious willful act could cost the company up to $70,000. I believe that could be doing something on purpose and that should cost a big fine. These amounts are very scary to me because accidents can and will happen but you do have to fix the problems that have occurred. Remember California is big about suing someone just to get money.

What you are saying is that a repair work that is done without the manufacturer’s authorization is going to be called a failure, and that it will result in an insurance claim and get thrown out, especially for insurance companies. When you are actually talking about safety, whether you are talking about people who have died there, people who have just broken a tooth, people who may have an air conditioner or people who may have an injury or that kind of thing, it’s kind of important to realize that these are the things that the manufacturers of these products look for in it.

When I say that you and I are doing everything we can to educate and protect our workers, a car might get hit or maybe lose a tire, but you and I care about a lot of this stuff just as much as the people. That’s because you get to protect our workers. My experience is there are some workers that are a bit sick, but that is no reason to drive around and take out the gas that drives those folks in here. When I walk in here they are sick and they are just going to take care of a few things and that is for sure. They are just being caretakers. And here it is and hopefully we’ll be going to change their situation.

There are three things in the video that I have absolutely no problem with. They were in a lot of cases you had trouble with that didn’t seem to be a serious issue on the call where if you do this at the next call they will just drive off the line. A lot of these people say they just lost their job or their car because you got the gas tank filled. I have talked to other people who were there because of it all.
