Imagine walking in the hallway and feeling like everyone is staring and pointing at you. Imagine feeling like you are less than garbage and that this world would be better without you? Imagine being physically and mentally exhausted from all the kids at school picking on you. You walk the whole day with a dark cloud of hate, anger, sadness, and depression all bubbling up over you; ready to turn into an uncontrollable storm of self loathing and entertaining thoughts of suicide; like lightning strikes when it prepares us for heavy rains. Only difference is nothing prepares us for the loss of a loved one, nothing prepares us for when we wake up to find our loved ones with a bullet in their head, leaving behind only a note to explain to you how cruel the world has been to them. This is the reality for some people whose families have been destroyed by bullying, so now ask you; are the perpetrators given the adequate consequences for their actions were they aware of what the outcome of their actions. Bully:” a person who uses strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker”. Bullying: “use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something” (oxford). The Canadian population has seen a rapid increase in bullying within our schools system and community; we need to focus on implementing programs to raise awareness, and educate our youth on the effects and consequences of bullying.
