Career Exploration Paper
Career Exploration PaperTony D. RobersonMGT/521Dr. John GrabarczykMay 19, 2015Results of Career ExplorationThe results of my career exploration are very similar to my career goals. Over the past 2 years I have been really considering what I wanted to do as a career. I have always had the thrill of becoming a Chief Executive Officer, which is my primary goal according to the Career Exploration. My stepping stone to becoming a C.E.O. is start my career in project management or marketing. I have always been good at advertising and developing marketing strategies. This facet of my career path is important because as a C.E.O.; I will oversee the majority of the departments within the organization. I will be responsible for public relations, administrative cohesiveness, and other models that make-up the organization. Although my career exploration is vastly similar to my current career goals, I am still currently seeking more knowledge to help me truly decide what career will best suit my strengths.
Surprised by the ResultsAccording to my career exploration results I can admit that I was a bit surprised of the change of interest that I currently have, my first passion was to become a psychologist and work with criminals with mental instabilities. I still wish to work in that field but I want to learn the business aspect of owning my own private practice, with the intention to start franchising within a 10 to 15 year scope after initial start. Becoming a Chief Executive Officer will only enhance my skills and effectiveness to successfully operate an organization.  Some of my career goals did catch me by surprise such as project management. I never really put any stock into becoming a project manager, when I was on active duty in the military I was presented with the opportunity to become a project manager but I lacked the education and experience to take on such responsibilities. Since then I left the thought of becoming a project manager in the past, but since I have now decided to pursue a master’s degree in business administration. I am considering all possibilities and career avenues that are available to me upon completion of this program.
