The Bahamas is a nation consisting of 29 islands. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean north of Cuba. In 1492 the Bahamas was discovered by Christopher Columbus. In 1973 the Bahamas attained independence from the UK. I would live in the Bahamas; I believe it is a very beautiful and stable country. The reasons for this are the countrys views on capital punishment which I see as very lawful to inmates on death row, also the country has a very calm and relaxed environment that is based around tourism which I also find interesting.
The Bahamas rules on capital punishment I believe are very lawful. In the Bahamas there used to be a mandatory death sentence for murder. On March 8, 2006 the highest court of appeal for the Bahamas abolished it. Now re-sentencing hearings are held for all inmates currently on death row. This ruling has saved the lives of many inmates who were on death row. Since 2006 no executions have taken place in the Bahamas.
The Bahamas I believe has a very relaxed environment. The reason for this relaxed environment I believe comes from tourism which is generally the face of the country. Every day in the Bahamas there are people coming into the country on cruises or flying in on planes visiting the islands.
For the most part I view The Bahamas as a nice and beautiful country, and I would like to live there. Tourism gives the country a very calm and relaxed environment. Also the countrys rules on capital punishment I believe are very lawful to inmates. All inmates on death row in the Bahamas receive re-sentencing hearings to make sure their death sentencing is justified. In some countrys I believe rules on capital punishment can be very unlawful and cost a lot of people their lives.
