Ensure the scene is free from danger and suitable for you to perform CPR. R means Response. Ask for response of the victim by calling him / her and touching his / her shoulder. Check whether victim got breathing or not. If no breathing and pulse, ask the people around you to call 999 or ambulance. C means Chest Compressions. Doing 30 chest compressions in the center of chest. Make sure the compression is in regular pattern and fast enough (100/minute). A means Airways. Before you are giving 2 breaths to the victim, make sure the airway is not blocked by any obstacles. Tilt the head back and lift the chin, open the mouth of the victim and check whether got anything inside or not. B means Breathing. After checking the airway of the victim, you can start with the 2 breaths. Pinch nose and cover the mouth with yours and blow until you see the chest rise. Give 2 breaths. Each breath should take 1 second. Repeat 30 chest compressions and 2 breaths (about 5 cycles) in 2 minutes. Continue CPR until advanced life support is available. If using an AED in the case of a heart attack or cardiac arrest, single shocks should be followed by immediate CPR for two minutes. Heart rhythm checks should be performed every two minutes (or after giving about five cycles of CPR); the AED will provide audible prompts at the appropriate intervals.
