Asthma
Dr.Summerz
In the United States, it is said to be that asthma is the most common chronic health condition thats on the rise. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the lungs (swelling of lungs). The swelling makes the airways very sensitive, which tends to react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating. In result of this they get narrower and less air flows through. This causes symptoms like coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. In most cases asthma usually begins in childhood. As children grow the severity of asthma can either increase or decrease. Breathing becomes difficult when the airways start to swell. People who are victims of asthma are often short of breath and have chest pains. Some factors that cause asthma attacks are cigarette smoke, cockroaches, dust mites, mold, animals, pollen, cold air, exercise, stress, and respiratory infections. It is important that parents get children to stay away from these risk factors because they can trigger asthma and if the child already has asthma it could trigger a asthma attack. During an asthma attack inflammation increases making airways more narrow. Studies show that childhood asthma can be reduced or eliminated by controlling exposures to known indoor allergens. Asthma attacks are not all the same, so if you have asthma, you should see your doctor regularly. You will need to know about things that cause your symptoms and what to do to avoid them. Taking care of asthma is a very important part of your life. If you dont control asthma, it will control you and your everyday activities that you enjoy. Asthma is one of the biggest causes of children missing school. There is no cure for asthma but most people can control it so that they have few and infrequent symptoms and can live healthy active lives.
