The Casey Anthony Trial: Is It Truth or Popularity?
The Casey Anthony Trial: Is it Truth or Popularity?        For the past couple of months, the Casey Anthony Trial has been in full swing. Court date after court date is all the Anthony family has been involved in. Prosecutors question the Anthony family about the death of little Caylee Anthony, but somehow the facts always came up missing. The impression given was that Caylee had drowned in the family pool and many believed this story, but somehow hidden details started floating through the media. Secrets, lies, and betrayal have started to reveal the longer the trial has progressed. The world sits back and tries to fit the pieces together, but it’s hard to do so given the faulty information provided by the media. A recent breaking news story on HLN News channel, revealed some disturbing new “evidence” about Casey Anthony and startling details about Caylee’s true death, but will the jury give Anthony her proposed death sentence or set her free due to the small amount of evidence collected against her?        It was reported that Caylee Anthony drowned in the family’s swimming pool June 16, 2008, a month before she was reported missing. Defense Attorney Jose Baez called the death of Caylee Anthony a “horrible tragedy, a common tragedy.” But he said the young mother, Casey Anthony, panicked, and instead of calling for emergency help, participated with her father, a former police detective, in a cover-up. (Richey) Several people were curious about why Casey Anthony waited an entire month before reporting her daughter being “missing”, when she clearly drowned in the swimming pool. The defense lawyer took the story to a whole different level by revealing some of the Anthony’s family’s dark secrets. The defense lawyer said George Anthony had sexually molested his daughter Casey since she was eight years old, and that Casey’s brother, Lee, had also sexually molested her. He also alluded to an FBI theory that Lee might have fathered Caylee. No father was designated on the child’s birth certificate, and the family had sought to hide her pregnancy…In an increasingly strange twist, Baez also told the jury that George Anthony not only sought to cover up the child’s death, but actively worked to implicate Casey in what he described as Caylee’s staged murder by allegedly placing duct tape over the dead toddler’s face and then positioning the remains in a place where they would likely be discovered….She told the jury that Casey Anthony had engaged in a pattern of lies to family members and police about the whereabouts of her daughter. The child was last seen alive on June 16, 2008, yet police were not notified that Caylee was missing until a month later. Word that she was missing triggered a nationwide alert and massive search. The toddler’s remains were discovered Dec. 11, 2008, a short distance from her home. (Richey) Several testimonies had been given in the duration of the trial. Casey’s mother and father, Cindy and George Anthony, didn’t believe their daughter was innocent of the alleged crime. The Anthony family was called to take the stand again in late June 2011. Casey’s father, George Anthony, took the stand and was questioned about an alleged affair he was having with Krystal Holloway (also known as River Cruz). (Tereszcuk)  Later, Cindy and Lee Anthony took the stand to give their testimonies. Lee talked about how Casey denied him to see his niece and how he told his mother he wanted to hire a private investigator to search for Caylee’s body around Casey’s home. Prosecutors allege that Anthony suffocated Caylee, put her body in her car trunk and disposed of the remains. Anthonys defense lawyer says Caylee accidentally drowned in the family pool and Anthony and her father panicked and covered up the death. George Anthony rejected that assertion in court. (Stanglin) In addition to the testimonies made, news surfaced that Cindy Anthony had researched chloroform on the family computer. Computer experts have testified that someone searched for “chloroform” and “neck-breaking” on the family computer on the afternoon of March 17, 2008. Cindy Anthony went on to say she looked up certain injuries using her home computer because she did not have full Internet access at work. Cindy Anthonys work records indicated that she was at work at the time the searches were performed, but she testified that because she is a salary employee, the records did not indicate that she had taken paid time off and left early during that time frame because her anniversary and Caseys birthday fell around the same time. (Mann) Prosecutors also questioned Cindy Anthony about the stain found in the back of her daughter’s vehicle, but she stated the stain had been there when the car was first purchased. They are led to believe that the stain had come from the decomposition of Caylee Anthony’s body being placed in the trunk.
