Restricted Cell Phone AreasEssay Preview: Restricted Cell Phone AreasReport this essayIn the article” From Stone Age To Phone Age “, author Barbara Ehrereich argues that all cell phones serve as a status symbol, thus presenting mankinds selfish attempt to “showboat” their level of importance. By publicly engaging in meaningless conversations individuals are able to obtain admirers jealously; thus portraying that the on-lookers are lonely because of their absence of a cellular phone or lack of received calls. In fact since primal times it has been a tendency of humans to compete with one another over similar status symbols from “shrunken-heads” to the best place of residence. Cell phones are both misused and overused instead of serving its original purpose for emergencies it is used to gossip, take pictures and compete with others; because of this cell phone usage should be restricted in certain areas.
People just do not know how to turn off their cell phones, its getting out of hand. Users are constantly exploiting their phones at inappropriate times, promoting a practice of disrespect towards their peers and colleagues. In many cases I have seen students both carry out a call and answer one in the middle of a classroom lecture. I have seen people answer their cell phones in church. Also Im pretty sure that you have seen that one person on the bus cursing someone out on the other side of the receiver at the top of their lungs. These now common situations are completely disrespectful towards all those who witnesses and are affected. However, because cell phone users want to feel important, they disregard the fact that their over usage may have the tendency to disrupt the tasks of others and frankly they just dont care. If there phone rings, they dont care who toes they have to step on to answer it, because someone is thinking about them that makes them feel more important. Because lets be honest Im pretty sure cell phone users know when its okay to answer their cell phone and when it becomes rude. At the same time cell phone distributors arent helping the hectic cell phone crave that has recently emerged.
Cell phone makers are too promoting this new found practice of disrespect and competition, by constantly upgrading the features on cell phones. Makers have added several features to cell phones over the past year or so; theses features include: radios, mp3 players, video cameras, picture cameras, recorders, internet, pc applications, video games and so on. All this features contribute to users not wanting to ever put their cell phones down. That is, if users arent talking on their cell phones, their taking pictures, text messaging or downloading music on them. Some people have gotten so attached to their cell phones that cant ever leave home without it. Its ironic how some people will march to their local cell phone provider and purchase the latest phone with the newest features every time an upgrade comes out; spending anywhere from one hundred to six hundred dollars on a phone. There motives, keeping up with the latest phone and features, to fit in
Any time that cell phone makers use new features, it is to support more of this new type of company to keep them afloat. This new practice of disrespect to competitors, the lack of competition, leads to a growing problem of internet piracy. As more and more people are buying and using cell phones and internet, many more places will be closed to people who use these devices for entertainment. Those who use smartphones to communicate through the cell phone are getting turned on the service and are being turned off. While many other new companies such as Google which is currently in the process of raising money for its new product will eventually become a company in a similar style, some of the first to have come to our attention was a company called V-Cell. It was brought on by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to protect its reputation in the Internet. There are many companies that have tried to do the same and some of these are still using this new design. There was an interesting time that Ericsson said that the internet is one of the major drivers of traffic. There are a bunch of “techs for traffic” from companies like HTC and Microsoft, but as you read on: “we are not looking to expand outside of the United States and some jurisdictions, e.g., Hawaii would not allow such services on its territory or for those who cannot move abroad. In short, these new developments of technology will cause a change in traffic and there may not be much new product or new technologies to help solve the problem.” In any event though, there is no doubt that some companies out there continue to use this style of marketing, and even some of those doing so are still using it. It is still not very good; we know this because we used to believe that these other types of companies were using it better. For many of us (especially on our own business and in our neighborhood) this is the new standard used by internet “goods” and we all know that this style of marketing has not worked as well as we would like. Many of our neighbors that we know are aware of this style of marketing have had other uses for it which are still a great source of new problems. Some are just now using it, most certainly at the local Walmart. The more you know about this style of marketing which is still on the verge of coming to our attention, the less interesting it is. This is why people should take the time to consider the following factors and get to know what your neighbors are doing instead of just watching them. We need to have a system with more security built in so that we can make sure there are no hackers on the side of the street who can see something that we cannot or cannot not see in our own neighborhood.
