How Cell Phones Have Changed Us Socially
HOW CELL PHONES HAVE CHANGED US SOCIALLY?ByTony Peterson11/06/13NAUK. SchroederAbstractToday’s society is fast moving and on the go 24/7. We hardly have any time for our families. There is school, work, after school activities, after work plans, and many other things that happen along the way. With all the busy life styles cell phones, or mobile phones, come in very handy in our everyday lives. They have come into this world with a bang and their use is spreading like wild fire. Cell phones are being used by many people of all of ages, sex, race, and religion. Cell phones have changed our behaviors, the way we live, how we act, what we do, where we go, and the things we can do with them at any given time. They have changed how we play games, talk to friends and relatives, research information, and even doing homework. Cell phones have many purposes now and will continue to get better as time goes on. Mobile phones have become an essential part of people’s lives.IntroductionHaving a cell phone is probably the most common device that everyone owns today. Wherever anyone goes, they look around and see everyone with a cell phone. This is where the question comes in, how have cell phones changed us socially? The most common action I see is at a table in a restaurant. Everyone at the table is doing something on their cell phone instead of having a conversation. This is changing the way we are socially towards one another. “A recent study from the University of Marylands Robert H. Smith School of Business finds that even though cell phones are generally thought to connect people with each other, they may make users less socially minded” (Rattue, 2012). The things that are available to do on the phones are making people very distracted.Cell PhonesThere are apps, messaging, email, games, internet surfing and searching, and music to use on a cell phone. The cell phone can be considered to be mini computers and they have taken over the minds of people. I see it every day when people would rather text than talk to someone. They can be sitting right in front of the person and still text that person. People who do this are less likely to communicate out in the public. “A recent study from the University of Marylands Robert H. Smith School of Business finds that even though cell phones are generally thought to connect people with each other, they may make users less socially minded” (Rattue, 2012). It is a very convenient device to have but people use it in the wrong way and it affects how they live their life.
