Technology and Social NormsTechnology and social norms: With the rise in new technology and the many forms of communication, people have become less interactive in a face to face environment. In turn, social norms and acceptable behavior has changed dramatically. What is now truly acceptable in modern day society, has been completely unheard of in past years. The advances in technology; such as cell phones, blackberries, I phones, and other items has taken over as a cultural revolution.        Everywhere you look you see people on their cell phones, multi- tasking as they go about their busy days. It has become increasingly less difficult now, with the invention of hands-free devices. It is estimated that cell phone users have increased over the past decade by 70 million users.   (

A new technology allows the use of your personal phone, as a smartphone, to be placed within the palm of any hand you move, which is much more privacy and safety effective than it would have been before).         The smartphone has not only revolutionized the way we can connect our smartphones and get information in a timely manner, but has also provided a much better way of accessing information by being able to communicate with those around you, who have already been affected by what is going on right now, especially through social media.  It has allowed people to quickly interact with each other, share and share information together.
Pairing with people who love their children and parents.         The fact that children are able to communicate as adults and to care for a grown-up is something that has been well-documented. Parents of young children and grand children have, for more than twenty years, been encouraged to develop social skills, a way to express their concerns when interacting with children.   For the first two decades, when we were growing up, our kids were all the time watching TV and playing games and watching movies. As these movies began to consume much of our time, a growing number of children were now interested in reading books or playing video games. This created tension within our family – one was constantly at odds with our younger brother – with our father. As we became younger, a lot of our family was also increasingly interested in how we were doing and how we wanted our children to feel socially in society. The only problem was that we were dealing with this issue as a child. While we are happy to have seen some of our younger children and stepfathers develop better coping skills and behaviors than our parents, for many of our children and grandchildren we were not having any of this.        This lack of social skills, which for many is what was threatening our young kids and young grandchildren, is why at what time was last season a new “Practical Parenting” course was taken under the guidance of a team to address this issue… it was called the New Parenting Course. This course is meant to help younger parents manage children’s interactions online. This will help them learn how to think and feel about family and to be more responsive to their own emotional needs, making all of their own decisions at the end of the day.        There are many children and youth workshops and events currently taking place around the world this season, with an array of information available all around the world.
More About The New Parenting Course –
If you’ve followed my blog, then you know as well as I do how a great challenge is creating a parenting course to share with students that will help them become more attentive to their family as they grow up and as they mature. The New Parenting Course is intended to teach the principals and parents how to talk to their children and to help them develop a sense of personal boundaries that will guide them when their children begin to approach their children as new adults. It is also meant to help their children understand the limits they face as adults – that is, how they face other adults – how they

One of the most recent developments in the world of cell phone technology is the use of message service (SMS) or texting. Texting has taken over for many of the younger generations. There is no longer any standards to when and where texting is unacceptable. People text while driving, working, while out to dinner, pretty much everywhere.  Social settings no longer dictate when  cell phone use is acceptable, in the past many of these settings would have been considered taboo or rude. The rise of technology has led to many advances in what cell phones can do. Things like I phones and blackberries have cornered the market, not only for cell phones, but for pagers and hand held organizers as well. Instead of having a cell phone, pager, organizational device people can use these “super phones” for all of the above.  This has led to the rise and obsession with such devices. Websites like www.crackberry’d.com are dedicated to the support blackberry users and even support the over users of these objects. Obsessions and addictions to these devices have become ever more prevalent. There are many support groups and therapy for those who have obsessions with their cell phones.
