“Me, Myself and Irene” is a movie and Charlie (Jim Carrey) is a Rhode Island state trooper with a split personality. He is also mild-mannered and non confrontational until somebody or something pushes him a little too far. Thats when his angry and freaky alter-ego, Hank, takes over. Charlie is assigned on a routine mission to return alleged fugitive Irene back to upstate New York, but they end up on the run from corrupt police officers.
Charlie is the main character in the movie “Me, Myself and Irene”. He is a state trooper who is very dedicated to his job. He is raising three kids who are all African American and smarter then Charlie. Charlies beautiful wife left him and that was when he lost it and got his split personality.
The result of Charlies split personality is Hank. Hank is just about everything opposite of Charlie. Hank is the evil one. Hank is the one that makes life very hard for Charlie and Irene as they try to run away from corrupt cops. Hank is the fearless, angry, and ready to kick it in to high gear type of personality.
Charlie is assigned an assignment from his superior officer to take Irene to a destination. Irene is a beautiful young woman who is the type that finds security in old rich people. She happened to want more out of life so she left them and now
they want her back. Another word she dug her own grave. Charlie happens to come along to help her out and they become close.
How close is close? Well Charlie and Irene get to know one another while running from corrupt police officers and they come to like each other. Hank is not much help in their relationship because of his constant urges to have sex with her but she is a good girl and prevents him. That is until he acts like Charlie just to go to bed with her. But even a mean personality like Hank cannot break true love.
But Hank does because he puts them through a lot. Hank strains there relationship to the breaking point but also in a way he strengthens it. He strains it because he does dumb stuff that could get Charlie killed, such as when he was rolling down a hill after he told Irene to hit him. He could have killed Charlie. Hank also starts things with people, such as when he saw this guy throw a bud on the ground, Hank tells him to pick it up and the guys beat him into a pulp.
