Daycare Centers
Daycare center environment is a reality situation geared for children of different ages. This is truly a setting where it is all about the kids. Parents need a secure environment for their children while they either attend school or go off to work.
Some day care are available 24 hours a day, while others are only available Monday thru Friday, nine to five, excluding holidays.
The subculture that I observed was that of a preschool class within a childcare center. Children are put into an environment of socialization that is based on their own specific age group.
The programs at a childcare center are geared toward building on childhood development. The preschool children learn how to interact with each other while building on skills of being able to follow directions from an authority figure. They also learn to listen and respect teachers, moms, dads, and other daycare staff members. This sometimes is the first socialization a child will encounter.
Preschool age children want to learn and want to make adults happy. It is important to ensure them that they are very important and praise them for tasks that they perform. In an appropriate daycare setting these children will receive the nourishing that they need and desire.
These children are always curious about new things. I feel that this age is one where they are like a sponge, all the knowledge that they can get their hands on they absorb. Children learn through play and hands on experience. A typical daycare day will be set to a planned routine. It may not always go as planned but usually a successful day.
There may be free play at the beginning of the day while all the children are arriving. The children will have a sit down breakfast where they learn manners and table etiquette. While in their classroom the children have a scheduled lesson that is performed in a group setting. After the task the children then can move on to playing at different stations. Each station has a learning concept attached to it. Whether they learn to measure, count, draw, or just stack blocks they are still every building their skills.
All of the skills the children learn will prepare them for going on to school. This is a great opportunity to enrich a childs life.
Daycares can be a great asset to a child and parent. I see so many possibilities when there is a great center, teacher, and staff. Each of the staff members put the children first for that day. Children will be able to feel good about them and be able to build their social skills before going on to grade school. I believe that a daycare center is a good environment for enriching childrens lives.
