Health and Wellness Assessment
I will do some health and wellness assessments on two people based on their profile provided to me. My assessments will be done on Roger, a 55 year old long-distance truck driver and Jerod, a 25 year old unemployed man. I will discuss the risk factors that they are faced with and give a couple of suggestions that they can use to improve them.

Roger
Roger drive long-distance trucks for a living, he’s 55 and does not walk on a regular basis and have no regular activities outside of his job. Lack of exercise is a major cause of chronic diseases. Physical inactivity is detrimental to health and normal organ functional capacities. Being physically active is the primary prevention of at least 35 chronic diseases. Some of these diseases that Roger is at risk of are obesity, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, hypertension, stroke, and congestive heart failure. Since he’s always on the road, he eats fast food on a regular basis; his health is even more at risk. Fast foods with high saturated and trans fats raises blood cholesterol which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke as well. Too much sodium can raise your blood pressure and too much fat and sugar can lead to obesity which both also contributes to heart disease (AHA, 2016). He is already obese based on his BMI of 30, and based on his family history; he’s more at risk for the same chronic diseases that already exists in his family. Roger is also a cigarette smoker, riding miles and miles and smoking at least a pack of cigarettes a day. Smoking is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and the chemicals in tobacco smoke can harm your heart and blood vessels in major ways. your blood pressure and heart rate, lower your HDL and raise your LDL cholesterol, and thicken your blood and make it harder for your blood to carry oxygen (NIH, 2016).

A Few Suggestions
In the case of Roger’s assessment I have a few suggestions in which I feel may help him. My first suggestion is that he should become more active. I do understand that he is often on the road but at least 3 days out of the week, he should walk and I feel that he should be able to do that whether he is on the road or not because he has to stop to rest at some point.
