(Introduction) City Café is a small-sized business and well known restaurant in Washington D.C. City Café opened its first location in 2005 on Main Street in Washington D.C. and has successfully served breakfast to thousands of customers. Many government employed people get breakfast at City Café early in the morning or stop by for lunch to have one of their specials. Although the business focuses on fresh baked pastries and different types of coffee, the City Café is open all day and offers lunch or cocktail specials in the evening. City Café is a big restaurant with 150 seats, 25 additional at the night bar and 63 total employees. City Café is crowded most of the time and customers enjoy the European atmosphere and the delicious pastry and specials.

(Moral and ethical issues) Since City Café caters to many government officials, it is imperative that all employees follow the strict guidelines of the company in regard to seeking special favors from any of these officials that they come into contact with on a daily basis. Our corporate culture will be such that all our employees have the same values, attitudes, standards and beliefs. Our objective is to be very transparent in our treatment of every patron of the Café. People of many different backgrounds, religious beliefs, race, sexual orientation and ethnicity frequent the establishment everyone will be treated with the same amount of dignity and respect no matter their personal beliefs. We are not in business to discuss our political views. During normal business hours all employees will adhere to our strict code of ethics and use the moral standards that were set forth during their training. Anyone seeking special privileges because of their position in government will be directed to management. The nature of our business dictates that we carry ourselves in a professional manner at all times. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated at all.

(Relationship among ethics, morality, social issues in legal context) City Café is a small business with the prospect of big legal problems. In a faced paced work environment located in the highly charged atmosphere of Washington D.C.; there is the potential for misconduct with legal repercussions. Harassment and discrimination are two areas of concern. With such a diverse clientele and staff, City Café has taken extra precautions to ensure that the employees are fully aware and have been trained in these and other areas of concern. City Café has also put forward guidelines for employees, with the proper steps to be taken when they feel they have been harassed or discriminated against. The laws that govern harassment and discrimination are “Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, (ADEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, (ADA)” (Harassment, 2011).

(b training) Training employees in an organization is the key to guide them into the right direction within the company. It is the managers responsibility to have every individual trained on ethical standards, company goals, and organizational values.
