In summary, the goal of the study is to get students to think about how big data applications can enhance their learning by making them more flexible, able to improve their behavior, and better able to handle challenges.

What this study does
A group of undergraduates (about 10-14 years) from four public schools is selected for a five-week online class for college undergraduates with information from a national student database. For each student, the student will receive a questionnaire form and follow-up questionnaires from two of his peers (the student, after a short walk home in a car) to assess their responses and how they felt about the applications he received. The goal is to ensure that students who receive the most recent application, either in their home office, or on their way to their graduation, feel confident in their ability to be active in their careers.
This experiment is part of a new, new project by the Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Applied Science to evaluate whether, or not, students should be allowed to work in a large office or school with high student turnover on a regular basis (as in large centers with large students, a larger student body, and a larger amount of teaching staff). The project is part of Professor Stephen DeRozan’s ongoing work at the Center for Data Analytics on data analysis.
As part of the BDA project, the school is conducting a pilot program to test the utility of the online questionnaire for the purpose so that incoming students and their classmates will be able to evaluate applications for office and school-based positions.
