Retailers Will
Retailers will buy goods and sell them to the public, they charge higher prices than what they paid from the manufacturers, “marking up”. This is important as if the suppliers sell the products cheaper, then the buyers will be able to make a profit therefore able to allow their business to grow. There are different stages in the manufacturing process that give support to smaller and larger companies, the first stage is growing and harvesting the raw materials, this could include coffee bean growers, cocoa bean harvesters or farmers harvesting corn. This is important as without people growing the materials retailers wouldn’t have anything to sell to consumers. Growers also ensure that there is a constant supply to manufacturers all year round so this keeps their business going all year. The next stage is processing the materials into products such beans, bread, clothes, cornflakes etc. this supports the businesses because they are creating products for manufacturers to sell. They produce and package products that will appeal to the consumer and without the products being processed the retailer wouldn’t have any products to sell. Stage three is the products are taken to a wholesaler or a distribution centre, the products are put on sale for businesses to buy in bulk to sell on to the consumer, the larger businesses such as supermarkets may have their own distribution centre so that they can distribute the products to their own stores. This is important to the supporting of businesses as it allows the buyer to buy in bulk which saves time and cost. They can also receive discounts from buying in bulk which will also help them to further their profits.
