From the beginning it was there, youre blanket. A little suspicious at first, you slowly warmed up to it then it somehow becomes an extra appendage. It is there wherever you go. As a kid, it was the cape when you pretended you could fly and there to catch you when you jumped off the roof when you realized you couldnt. It provides just the right amount of warmth the nights when you are cold. In feeling lonely, its what you turn to. Whenever youre afraid or just need something to hold on to, its right there. However, if its not where youve left it, you freak and frantically search for it until youve found it. To share your tears, to take in your fears, to throw around when youre angry, its there and always will be. When you make important decisions, itll be by your side even when its the wrong ones. If you forget about it for a while and want to try new things, youll always realize that its not the same, and itll be right where youve left it, with no protest. As you grow older, you develop a different kind of dependence. It may not be as prominent in your life anymore, but you know its there. But this as a bad thing, its supposed to happen this way. In fact, its happy when you do find your way by yourself.
This blanket is the most important people in your life. Whenever you need them, theyre there. Sometimes its difficult to ask for help, and when you finally do, youre glad you asked. Even when you feel like youve made the biggest mistake in your life, theyll tell you that you havent and everything will be ok. Even though you know theyre just saying that to make you feel better, just the comfort of having them there is enough. They celebrate when you do well and succeed. When it does come time to grow up, you need to find your own life and not be so dependent on them.
