Is Marriage Out-Of-Date Interview Re Essay
Is marriage out of date?
Person 1 – I do not think that marriage is out of date as there are many benefits to being married , even though I only approve of marriage for love, many people still get married for other reasons as well. I think that marriage will never be out of date because people will still want to get married for many years to come whether they are religious or not. It is important that you declare your love and make life-long promises to each other in a serious and committed relationship in the eyes of god. You need this for a stable relationship and foundation to build on to make you stronger. You know that you can trust your partner and you know that your partner will be faithful. It will not end in divorce if you truly have no doubts, and only will if you were not ready in the first place. This is why marriage wont be out of date – because its a promise and it is what keeps you grounded. It is stability and support and trust. And without that in a serious relationship, how will it ever last?
I agree with this opinion on marriage because it states that marriage is or should be for love and that it is a foundation and base to build a relationship. However, I do not agree with the rest of it as it costs on average tens of thousands of pounds for one day. Why not just trust each other and make promises to yourselves rather than being legally committed in the eyes of god? However, I do think that people can be happy together for the rest of their lives without being married as they dont need to prove to anyone that they love each other, they do not need to put on a show to prove to people that they are serious, because only they know how they feel. Religious people may disagree with this as they believe that it is a key stage in a Christians life and is expected from them.
Person 2 – I think that marriage is out of date because it is only to show everyone else your love for each other. A lot of people rush into these things, almost to confirm to themselves that its what they want. And if they really are going to be loyal and faithful, they do not need to show everybody else this. If it was really a good relationship then they would trust each other and it would be a foundation to build on without marriage, just commitment. Not written down, not with witnesses and a whole audience, just a promise between themselves. If they really love you for you, they will not care about proving it to everybody else and getting married.
I also agree with this opinion because it is true that you dont have to get married to love someone and you dont have to prove it to everybody. However I think being married provides stability for the relationship, and if your partner doesnt want to get married to you, then how do you know that they want commitment? Marriage is a big commitment in the eyes of god, and the promises you make should not be broken. But if your partner cannot do that and make those commitments to you, does your partner want to stay with you for the rest of their life?
Person 3 – I dont believe marriage is out of date at all. It is all too easy nowadays for people to move in together and then split up when the going gets rough and just give up on the relationship and move on. Relationships are difficult sometimes and I think by being married, it makes you think more about trying harder and working things out. Marriage is also a way for a relationship to be recognized in law as legal partners. For instance, if you lived together and were not married, and one of you died – although you may have spent a life time building your financial foundation together, the partner left behind wouldnt be entitled to your financial assets as they wouldnt be considered as next of kin! However if you are married, the deceaseds estate passes automatically to the partner even without a Will. I think it is important that children see that their parents are committed to each other by marriage as children follow their parents example. I feel that people enter into sexual relationships far too easily and set up home with a partner without fully realising what it entails, a partnership is something to work at and to grow into with each other. Marriage is a sign to each other and the world that you are in it together.
I dont agree with this opinion, as in marriages for these reasons, they tend to be entered quickly and irrational decisions are made. If it is just in hope that you will get through rough times in an easier manner, then the marriage will have a lot of rough
