Communication Channel Scenario Evaluations
Effective communication channels are essential in todays business. Choosing the right channel to convey messages can make or break a deal. Communication serves as control, motivation, emotional expression, and information (Robbins, 2011). There are many forms of communication channels that can be used. Some common types of channels are: memos, email, faxes, and oral. This paper will evaluate three communication channel scenarios that have been pre-selected. Each evaluation will describe what channel would be best to use and why.
For the first scenario, the VP of Operations has requested me (team leader) and my team to develop a strategy for entering a new beverage into the global market. The time frame for this is stated as having only one week to accomplish this task. The best communication channel that should be used would be holding a team meeting. As team leader, you would be able to address the task and hand in a quick and efficient manner allowing for team member participation. Once a strategy is decided on among the team a face-to-face meeting should be held with the Vice President of Operations.

As a manager I would contact them by telephone, as this seems like the fastest way. As the scenario continues, IT provides me with a new login name and password. All of the employees must be notified in order to begin work. Once again, I would choose the telephone. This time it would be to contact all of the employees and provide them with the new login details. I believe that this would be the best communication channel at this point because this would be the fastest and most effective.
The third and final scenario, places me as the owner of a small editing company. There are ten employees working for me. With the down economy downsizing is the only way to pay the bills and remain profitable. For this instance I would first hold an employee meeting to discuss the situation at hand with
