The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) involves breaking a company’s project into minor components in a hierarchical order to enable companies to accomplish project activities separately. The WBS assists the company in estimating costs, as well as controlling the working schedule. Hence, creating a WBS assists the project manager in focusing on the specific details in carrying out a project. In case of hiring new employees in an organization, the hiring manager can utilize the WBS to make arrangements for the applicants, advertising for the available posts, creating time schedules for interviews. This study will focus on the WBS for carrying out the hiring of new employees in XYZ Environmental using in a diagram format.

XYZ Environmental Company is planning to hire new employees to enhance its services in both the US and Canada, in addition to meeting its employee staff requirements. The firm would like to maintain its recurring costs; hence, hiring local employees rather than attracting foreign employees seems to be an appropriate option, as it would not be required to spending on travel and accommodating costs of foreign applicants. Thus, the hiring manager needs to create a WBS, which will split the hiring process into simple manageable tasks that will not cost the company a lot of expenses. The following is a Work Breakdown Structure for hiring new employee in XYZ Environmental Company.

This WBS incorporates numerous levels that define activities are split to accomplish a project. The root node in a tree-format WBS represents the project while the first level illustrates how the major sub-activities are recognized (Klein, 2000). In the case of XYX Company, level 1 is the project that the company (XYZ Environmental) is planning to undertake. The company is contemplating on hiring new employees to cater for the increased consumer needs and to undertake all contracts at the stipulated time. The company has underlined several sub-tasks to accomplish the hiring process. Such tasks are represented in level 2 of the WBS.
