This course focuses on decision support systems. Both the role of decision support systems and the tools used for decision support are examined.
Topics and Objectives include:

* Analyze the use of Oracle for DSS.
DSS AND WEB SERVICES
* Analyze the use of Web Services for DSS.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
* Explain the relation of DSS and Knowledge Management.
* Apply DSS using MS Excel.
Faculty
Keith M. Ellis has been a member of the University of Phoenix faculty since 2003. In addition to his Masters degree in Computer Information Systems, Keith also holds a degree in mathematics. Keiths career has taken him from law enforcement and emergency medicine all the way through the creation of one of the first XML-based ad hoc report writers. He currently works for the Tucson business unit of a Fortune 500 company where he manages the units programmer/analysts.

One of the highlights of the University of Phoenix academic experience is that students can draw on the wealth of examples from their organizations in class discussions and in their written work. However, it is imperative that students not share information that is confidential, privileged, or proprietary in nature. Students must be mindful of any contracts they have agreed to with their companies.

Above average performance. All assignments are complete and exhibit a complete understanding and an ability to apply concepts.
Average performance. Accomplishes only the minimum requirements. Oral and written communication is at an acceptable level for a graduate/undergraduate student as appropriate.
Demonstrates understanding at the most rudimentary level. Work is minimally passing.
Work is not passing, characterized by incompleteness, unsatisfactory demonstration of understanding and application.
NOTE: Quality is based upon the professional opinion of the faculty, not on effort, previous grades in other courses, or intent of the student. If you disagree with a grade, I can look at the assignment again, but your grade can go UP or DOWN. The second look if you ask for one, will stand as the final grade.
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS

Week Two
Begin a library search for current articles on knowledge management (see assignment due in Workshop Four).
Write a 1-2 page review of one of the knowledge management articles you have found for your final paper). Be sure to follow standards for written work including in-text citations and a works cited page.
Week Three
Continue library search for current articles on knowledge management (see assignment due in Workshop Four).
Week Four
Write a 6 - 8 page (350 words per page) paper on current trends in knowledge management based upon at least 10 current articles found in a library search or from professional journals.

Complete a Learning Team Evaluation. Be sure to put your name
