Space exploration has the tendency to make the world see past its flaws. When taking into account the continuation of space exploration, as well as its future, expenses practicality, and productiveness compared to others in long term must be considered.
The majority of the money being spent on space exploration is being spent in the United States. Only 6/100 of every federal dollar spent goes to space and technology (Source A and C). Other countries have become interested in space exploration now that the United States has improved its wealth through the investment. Manned space exploration is considered a way to better everyones lives on Earth. However, even though such a small portion of money goes towards space exploration for every dollar, it adds up. Therefore, the high cost of space exploration should be considered before deciding to start using government money to fund the publicly enticing projects.
Although space exploration is new and exciting when it comes to discovering, its not necessarily the most practical. People can be really into astronomy and aerospace, but they may not find it pleasant to see taxpayers money to fund it (Source H). No one needs to live on Mars. No one needs rock samples from the moon. What people need are things that will keep them alive. The only way to get those things is with money. The more money that can go to necessities, the better off people will be. This means medical advances, food, education, and so on. The practicality of space exploration is of high standards to take into account.
As much as everyone wanted to be an astronaut as a kid, it isnt the most proliferate job. Astronauts live in spacecrafts for abnormal amounts of time only to collect samples of the environment from other objects in space. Occasionally that research can cause a huge advancement in our life on Earth, which is a good reason to keep it funded. But what about issues like the Nations health? The research can be done by the Nations Medical Research Agency (Source D) proves that finances could go to more life altering fields of study. Space exploration is important, but how important is it compared to things like medicine, education, or national defense?
All explorations will have repercussions; especially space exploration. Whether it is financial, practicality, or productiveness, it will occur. These particular issues should be considered of utmost importance in making crucial decisions about space exploration.
