Everywhere we go today we see some type of advertising, it could be in the supermarket, on a billboard, on the side of a bus, in the t.v, and even on the radio. Most of this advertising are targeting children and teenagers and currently most of this advertisement are very controversial. Everyday, we are bombarded with images within popular culture- advertising, in the television and these images try to sell us something–whether it is clothes, cars, or happiness. Television and other media represent one of the most important and under recognized influences on children and adolescents health and behavior in the today.
Their impact should be eliciting serious concern, not just from parents and educators but from physicians, public health advocates, and politicians as well . Although objections to various programming and advertising practices can exist on common sense, philosophical and increasing numbers of studies document shows that a serious problem do exists. In a census conducted in 2000 it was reported that an average American child watches about 20,00 commercial every year that is 55 commercials every day, (www.bgsu.edu retrieved 5/7/2006) this advertising today are very controversial and marketers choose children because they can easily
