Creative thinking is pertinent to advancing in any field or environment. In order to reach maximum potential, individuals must utilize the process of critical thinking. Society has benefited in various ways by the contributions of creative thinking individuals. Creative thinkers are problem solvers, artists, writers, and filmmakers. They develop entertaining and stimulating works, provide society with unique experiences, and add value to the world. In this passage, the author will introduce the reader to two individuals who are famous for their creative ideas and give some background each individual’s ideas and contributions to society.        Cornel Ronald West, born June 2, 1953, is an American philosopher, activist, academic, author, public intellectual and prominent member of the Democratic Socialists of America (Anonymous, 2015). Mr. West’s simplistic way with ideas and confident delivery of words have ushered him into being one of, if not, the best-known black scholar in the United States of America. Mr. West is widely known for criticism, political and moral insight and his contributions to the post-1960s civil rights movement (West, 2015). Most of his work deals with the roles of race, gender and class in the American way of life. The issues that West addresses focus on the way by which individuals act and react to their “radical conditionedness.” West contributed the American society’s educational system by using his knowledge to teach African American studies, divinity, religion and philosophy. He was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in philosophy from Princeton University. Mr. West was also a contributor and influential part in the execution of the 1995 Million Man March movement which was constructed to put black related issues on the nation’s political list of “things to do.”         Mr. West participated in protests on issues that affected equality and fairness. There was once a protest in which Cornel was arrested and jailed. West helped develop one of the best facilities for African American studies at Princeton University. West focuses on issues that involve politics and social and current policies that include international concerns. His issues aim to fight the black community problems that have been infested by the United States government. He serves on various positions in a facet of organization that focus on implementing change. His solutions have been put into action with events like Russell Simmons’s Hip Hop Summit.
