Examples of past projects include (not a complete list): web strategy/site development and implementation, database management systems, e-commerce solutions, data analytics for various information systems, data security analysis, systems analysis, technical and financial feasibility studies, and marketing information strategy studies. The course provides students with an opportunity to integrate concepts and skills learned in prior business, technology and analytics courses. All projects will follow the “best practices” defined by the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge, PMBOK. These practices will be covered in this course via assigned readings and quizzes. All written material, including the final project report must conform to these practices. Each student group is required to make at least one presentation to the sponsoring organization as part of their class assignments. This usually occurs at the end of the semester. Each student is expected to keep an accurate log of time spent, visits made during the course of the project.
