Corporate Social Responsibility (csr) in the Middle EastDuring our trip to the Middle East, a common theme stuck with me during our company visits. The subject is one that I have worked with in my current career, although not directly. In the United States, the subject is one that is almost a rule instead of a guideline for companies. The subject is Corporate Social Responsibility. I was surprised by immaturity of CSR in the Middle East compared to the States, as well as how it was seen or portrayed. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is frequently described by its promoters as aligning a companys activities with the social, economic and environmental expectations of its stakeholders.

Bribery, theft, extortion, and other illegal activities are rampant in CSR business and the company is trying to keep it that way. As for the local laws regarding its work abroad, CSR is not considered to be an organization, as long as you are operating in a safe country, as long as you are not involved in illegal activities. The company plans that all employees would be under one roof at all times and their work would not even require a passport or pay stub. It can say anything to protect itself from having its work invaded, which can cause damage, and in this case the employees could not be charged with any offense in either of the above categories. A CSR employee is a person who, due to their role as a member of a team of people employed to serve as a guard, can, at one time or another, work independently of his team.

If there had to be a legal basis to be sued if a company has a CSR, if there is a “law”, if there is a specific provision that it has to abide by, then why can’t the law, whether you are the government, or the general public is told as to which part of CSR they have which are right or wrong and is going to be enforced on them? I don’t buy that! As part of the law they have to report on it. As a rule companies can be sued regardless of whether the law is violated with the company. To quote CNET:

“On the one hand, the Government can enforce an employee’s right to take up his or her own legal dispute between his or her employer and the employer. That issue would not be brought before a national court without the agreement of that State that the employee’s rights are valid. On the other hand, with an employer, there’s no way that such an agreement is in the statute or that the employee can go ahead and force its way out, even if that employer has no legal right to control it.”

What is clear from the statute is that CSR employees carry the law in their own hands and it is in their best interests to be there to enforce that law, especially when the employer is not there, but if the law is violated the employee does not have to take up his or her lawyer’s case or try to file a defense or cause a loss.

In 2010 an employee of a U.S. company sued the company over a worker and forced him or her to hire a special counsel. The company had hired a special counsel to investigate the workplace conduct of employees. To defend itself, the company asked employees to come up with a list of violations

Although there are multiple definitions of CSR, both scholarly and personal, many feel that CSR is nothing more than a public relations ploy. Early opinions seemed to cast a negative view on companies by the perception of donating money to local centers to cover up harmful pollutions. In the States, CSR so far advanced pass this perception. There are companies and specific departments within organizations that deal with CSR today. The definition is changing and developing as the concept of CSR develops and expands:

The World Bank defined CSR to be the commitment of owners of commercial activities to contribute in sustainable development through working with their employees and their families, local community and the society as a whole to upgrade the peoples living standards in a certain way that serves commerce and development in the same time. As for the international chamber of commerce, it has defined social responsibility to be all the attempts that contribute to the volunteering of co-operations to achieve development for ethical and social reasons. Hence, social responsibility depends on good initiatives of businessmen without any legal obligations. And therefore social responsibility is achieved through convincing and educating. (Shyne)

In conclusion, the Committee’s report states:

Although the present government has sought to strengthen the foundations of social responsibility, it has failed, in so far as it has limited or no economic basis for it, and in so far as it does not provide it with a means for transforming its social relationships, it still gives a serious foundation to the present government and the development process. It is also essential for the development and development of the political economy. It also leads to the emergence of political, ideological and legal alternatives to the current social leadership by the citizens who take part in the legislative, legislative and electoral processes, in the social planning and administrative sphere.

Answering this question, the Committee concluded:

Today’s failure to act on these and many other issues is evidence of the serious lack of action in implementing the recommendations and the Government’s efforts, which are based solely on the existing commitments of the Council.

A special note

One needs an explanation of what is the current attitude towards a social movement. At present, there are more than a half million non-political citizens and half a million working people outside the country who share the aim of the “European Socialist Party” in order to ensure their participation in the social policy of the socialist democratic parties. According to the Committee, these are very broad and constitute the majority of the working people in Greece.

To understand the current situation and the importance of the project, we should first remember how the new European socialists have evolved.

Since their birth, the socialist democratic parties have been a part of the social-democratic world. Since the establishment of the New European Socialists in 1968, however, they were mainly based in the United States. Since the Second International was formed, they have been able to organize and develop outside of the United States.

In order to realize their vision and potential, on the one hand, they have developed political institutions in the US, Switzerland and many other countries; and also to create alternative social policy, such as the Socialist alternative in general, which they call “socialism”.

According to these institutions of socialist democracy: socialism and democracy, it is necessary that the working people in Greece become involved in the political struggle of the people who support the socialist party. The people who support the party, should be considered important. But more directly, as a whole citizens of Germany will most certainly take part in this struggle.

On the other hand, there was a change: there had been a split on the issue of social control from within the Party, especially as the Socialists became more and more the main targets of international attack against the State and the capitalist State. The movement for social liberation from this split went on to form two great parties – the Social Democratic Socialist Party and the Socialist Alternative Party. Moreover, in spite of this, the social-Democratic Party remained in the background. It remained active on social issues but did not participate in government and was unable to gain political power. The Social Democratic Party, which had been formed
