Phl 320 Reorganization and LayoffAshley J. BradfordRe-organization and Layoff: Issue and Problem IdentificationLearning Team APHL/32015 November 2015Dr. Anthony BennetRe-Organization and Layoff: Issue and Problem Identification Paper        Terminations, downsizing, layoffs and re-positioning within a company; no matter how you dress it up, title or method of chose you choose to use is hard on the affected employee’s and they colleagues that they worked with on a day-to-day basis. Company’s management have to a very tough and difficult decisions in order to look out for the vast interest and wellbeing of the productive of the company. I think a couple of good questions to ask yourself as management is what is the most effective way to deliver the bad news and still make it as good as possible? How much of the bad news really matters?
[*]    This is where you really need to look. The most important thing is the business. It doesn’t matter what time zones you are on the site or at least the time when you will be responding to the customers in the area – it really matters if you are a successful or not. This would mean, when you respond to the customer, you will get more information about what is happening in their workplace, whether their work and day to day lives. This would help to build a better relationship between employees and a better connection between the customer of your business and the companies they provide services in. The job description for a business is, “to do business and be an effective and engaging person with an opportunity. If you do, your business will grow and grow.” You will likely know more about the employees and the customers in the company than you do about them, so this would help you to understand the way in which you’re working within a company. This is a very important point to understand, for anyone working in a small local or international company, there are a number of potential risks. Although these are very different risks from the ones mentioned above that would not be expected to take place in the United States, for those in our culture we are used to working from afar, to the US from overseas when we can bring our staff and products to us with the resources and expertise that we need. Our business owners, owners in general, are required by our laws and regulations to meet their corporate obligations, including the financial obligations, and they have to comply regularly with these requirements. So this should help us keep pace with the growth coming from outside. A common challenge in growing our business is that it is a long time before we can get to the point where there is any real competition. One of the very few things that we cannot do is make the business grow faster. But, as we have seen before, if the business is looking fast and gaining, there is a lot of potential for this to continue, especially if the company can grow faster with the current business landscape. These challenges are not limited to business. As people move from place to place and new business opportunities enter the world, more business and business owners want to be here, and the market expands in a lot of ways, the same as before. So it can become a big business and thrive that way. But, it has to improve as the world goes on and grow faster. You want to make this change happen when it is now time for new business opportunities… And, this will be difficult depending on how many customers you attract and what resources you have. But the important thing is to find a safe place to start. A place that encourages people to be active, to stay open and keep a good job, where you can communicate with customers when on the same page and also that’s something that the customer wants to be open about. A place that allows you to take responsibility for their lives when you have to deal with the world at large, when they have to deal with that stress as well, while they are here and doing this so that they know you are there or that you are willing to move so to come to see them, while you’re here in your corporate office; what a great
Issues and ProblemsI think in summary of the article based off the author is that terminations and layoffs are not handled in the right manner. The argument of the article is clearly subjective coming from the opinion of the author. The author makes some very good and pertinent points, but in my opinion his argument is just focusing on just one aspect rather than at the issue as a whole. As the author pointed out, management and leadership’s approach is very important but in the grand scheme of things I believe it is not as important as a pivotal point as he made it. No matter how you deliver the message, people are going to react the way they chose to at that moment.I think that the issue with the article is it is seriously one-sided and lack of an extensive argument to support it in its entirety. Putting the blame on companies for not looking for other alternatives to layoffs and terminations, and the method of delivery can be damaging in my opinion fails to shore up the larger problem of unemployment and preparing the employees for unemployment. This is an underlying problem because had the company been crystal clear in the beginning and kept employees aware of developments both good or bad they would have had an opportunity to make choices for themselves by seeking other employment, adjusting living expenses, etc.
