Curley’s wife was the only woman in the story, so therefore she got treated different. Before she could even enter the story she was being called a tart. She didn’t have a name at all so she was called Curley’s wife. Why did Curley’s wife happened to be the only woman in the story? George and Candy were the two men who was calling her a tart. Crooks was named crooks because of his crooked back cause by a kick from a horse. Crooks takes care of horses and he lives by himself because was the only black man on the ranch. Crooks was not allowed in the bunkhouse with the white ranch hands. Crooks kept his distance and demanded others to keep theirs. Did John Steinbeck want only one African American man in the story? Crooks was just a independent man who got treated different because of his race, which was not right at all.
We need to change the way that we treat people because no one is perfect, no matter if youre black or white, male or female. Everyone needs to be treated with an equal amount of respect.
