Reflection Paper on the Four Horsemen Documentary
Wealth is such a big part in having this messed up system die to the fact that everyone wants money to be able to buy things to impress other people and women. These days’ women don’t go out with men who are not financially stable because if they do, they think that they would be starving and suffering in the long term. Although I personally do not judge a guy based on his wealth, I would want to marry a guy that isn’t just financially stable, but a guy that would fit in with my personality and taste. Money is only a piece of paper with value that’s why it is being treasured so much right now, but we also need to understand that the absence of a monetary system does not necessarily lead to democracy, freedom, and rights. Money makes us powerful, everyone wants power and this leads to the desire of hoarding money.
The world isn’t what you think it is. This is the message I received after watching the documentary. All our actions are part of a bigger picture. Each action we do, big or small, can affect other people more than we think it does. Our greed for money is affecting more people than we expect. This documentary is very interesting in a way that it is believed that even though the current system we “created” is messed up, we can still fix it and re-establish a moral and just society. This is something I believe in as well, that the system can be fixed. If one person sparks a change, and everyone else follows, that spark will be something big and it would lead to the change that the system needed. The only thing we need to do is to find the root cause of the problem and start tackling the problem there. This would not be a band aid solution to the problem, but something long term. I believe we can still change the system. And after changing the system, we would achieve a just and free society.
The commoners believe in the experts who talk about the system. The experts make themselves look credible, smart and trustworthy for the others to believe in what they say. The system is built to make the rich richer and the poor even poorer. This is why those experts are continuing to dictate on the commoners to be able to get more money for them. Now that it is happening right now, I am more aware of the current happenings within our society. This is an important lesson for the commoners on how to view the current business leaders we have now. As a business student, I wouldn’t be a person who would hoard money but I would be a business person that will serve my country’s people.
