The distribution department at BMW ensures that all goods are appropriately stored before dispatch e.g. car parts. They also ensure that goods for dispatch are securely packed and correctly labelled.
They are also dealing with distribution problems, eg through bad weather or vehicle breakdown.
Customer service department provides customers with information, such as if BMW is selling a car. It is up to the customer service department to provide the information on the car BMW is selling. Also the customer service department offers advice to the customers, for example a BMW customer want to buy a car, and can’t afford the fixed price; the customer service department can advise the customer to buy the car in a monthly payment. They also do after sale service which is to provide the customer support on the product they bought. Another job is for them to deal with the customer complaints.
The ICT department has lots of jobs. For example; to design and make new cars by using computer software, to calculate the income and expenditure using software like Microsoft excel or calculator, to produce job adverts by using software like Microsoft publisher, to produce websites for the customers of BMW by using software like Adobe Dreamweaver, they also use email software’s like hotmail or Gmail to send email messages, they also use ICT to help them with the security of BMW, by using cameras.
The production department carries out the following jobs, which are to obtain raw materials such as metal, timber etc, and convert them into finished goods and services, e.g. cars at BMW. This means that the production department organises resources and how to the product is made. For example they could use machinery such as robots to design their product or they could give tools to a trained employee to design the product.
