Case in Utilitarianism
Good morning everyone, I am Ho Lok Hin shambie. Today I am going to analyze the case in Utilitarianism. First of all, let me briefly explain Utilitarianism, in this theory, it aims to maximize happiness and minimize pain, when happiness value larger than pain, the action should be take.//in these case I will define in two groups to see the happiness and pain, they are Daves NGO, and to the social, which means the effect when all NGO does the same thing.Lets start with the Happiness to Daves NGO, if they kept the funding, they can really help more street children, and to make themselves seems more effective and to get the funding easily next year. And the Happiness to Social, it means every NGO did the same thing to kept the funding, there are the same effect, more people who need help can be take care by NGOS, for example there are 1000 people to be benefit in each NGO, and it has positive effect to the social.//but when we look to the pain, to Daves NGO, it actually cannot help so much people, if he really keep the funding, there are fifty thousand dollars. However, when the government found that they do not return the funding as the grant rules, it is possible that government will not sponsor Daves NGO anymore. To long term as 10 years, Daves NGO will loss 5 million or even more. Not only about the funding, but also the worse effect it brings. When Daves NGO broke commitment with the government and exposed, they will be loss trust form the government and even break the law. the punishment may be huge for example they will be arrest. and of course, no one will trust Daves NGO anymore.the pain to social is more worse, when every NGO did this, and no one return and one of them was exposed, the government officer may started to check the funding situation in every NGOS. when every NGOS expose the truth to the government, all NGO will loss trust, government may cut budget to the NGOS or to set up a strict rule, so that they cannot apply the funding smoothly. if the NGO cannot get enough funding, the final victims are the people who need help.
