The article described the recent change in males general appearance. The one manly look which generally comprised of t-shirts, jeans, and sweats will no longer cut it in todays society. Men are now spending more time on their appearance when it comes to facial creams and fashion sense. Not only does this allow men to feel more confident in them but it also creates a positive vibe which also may allow them to gain a higher position in the work place. The article describes how the metro sexual is the new and improved man.
The new fashion craze has begun its venture in China. Chinese and Asian men have made a complete 180 in their style. It was recorded that the men spend between fifty and sixty percent of their time taking care of their appearance. Some men were also recorded in spending between five hundred and one thousand dollars a month on their attire. Although most women are impressed with the changes the men have made, some of them are more confused than anything. Women were quoted as saying “I just cant tell whose gay and whose straight anymore.”
The media has also made a large impact on the mens new style. David Beckham and his wife became a sponsor and supporter of the mens new make-up lines and completely launched the new brands. Entire department floors in certain areas of China are completely devoted to mens skin and hair care. There is also the recent Mens Beauty Pageant which was on TV. Although, it was difficult for the judges because they were forced to create a way to judge the men. How does one judge a man in a beauty pageant? The men were split up into two groups; the manly men and the metro men. They were involved in such competitions as talent and they were judged based on their charisma.
